2019 LIJSL Club Volunteer of the Year

The Hicksville American Soccer Club is proud to present it's 2019 Volunteer of the Year Award to Don 'DJ' Schroeder. DJ has been involved with the Hicksville Soccer Club dating back to 2008 when his oldest daughter, Paige, started in Intramurals. Followed by Taryn and Riley.

DJ Started as an assistant for Paige's team, the Explosion, in the Fall of 2013 after he retired from the the NYPD. As an assistant coach, they won their division and sportsmanship award for that season (2014). He also volunteered to be an assistant coach on his youngest daughter, Riley's, team the Kickers in which he continues to assist to date.
From then through the spring of 2019 he was the Explosion assistant coach and they (the girls) aged out in the spring of 2019 winning their division. He was a great help to the Coach and a great mentor to the girls.DJ also volunteers his time in the club as the Facilities Coordinator. He makes himself available to accept fuel deliveries at our fields for the lights and to assist in access for TOB workers. He also has made trips to suppliers to pick up soccer equipment when necessary. When we need to shift the portable lights, DJ brings his Jeep with a hitch to make short work of the task. The Hicksville American Soccer Club is fortunate to have DJ as a member and coach. We are a better club thanks to his dedication. Congratulations DJ on behalf of the entire club!
